AI-Integrated Multi-Omic Liquid Biopsy for Rapid Diagnosis of EBV-Associated Burkitt Lymphoma in the Greater Mekong Region: A Prospective Diagnostic Accuracy Study

Author(s): Ana María Hernández Vázquez, J.C. Jaime-Fagundo Fagundo

Abstract: Background: Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is a highly aggressive childhood cancer endemic to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and malaria regions. Diagnostic delays exceeding 90 days are common in resource-limited settings due to scarce pathology infrastructure. We developed and validated an artificial intelligence (AI)-integrated, multi-omic liquid biopsy platform for rapid BL diagnosis in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Methods: We conducted a prospective, multicenter diagnostic accuracy study across eight hos...

Deep Learning-Integrated Multi-Omic Liquid Biopsy for Rapid Diagnosis of EBV-Associated Burkitt Lymphoma in the Eastern Mediterranean: A Prospective Diagnostic Accuracy Study

Author(s): Nikolaos Papadopoulos, Maria Eleftheriadou

Abstract: Background: Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is a highly aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma endemic to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and malaria regions. Diagnostic delays exceeding 90 days remain prevalent in resource-limited settings due to scarce pathology infrastructure. We developed and validated an artificial intelligence (AI)-integrated, multi-omic liquid biopsy platform for rapid BL diagnosis across the Eastern Mediterranean region. Methods: We conducted a prospective, multicenter diagnostic accuracy stud...

Perceptions of the professional liability insurance system among health care workers: a cross-sectional study

Author(s): Nazykesh Akhmetoldinova, Zhanna Tlembayeva, Rauan Zhaltyrbayeva, Zhorabek Abraliyev, Malike Kudaibergenova

Abstract: Objectives: This study aimed to assess healthcare workers’ perceptions of the current professional liability insurance system in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was hypothesized that, despite a neutral overall evaluation, healthcare workers would report limited practical protection and identify insufficient transparency and institutional awareness as key challenges. Differences in perceptions by sector, length of service, and professional category were examined, along with predictors of support f...

Intravitreal Photoswitch Therapy with KIO-302 in Advanced Retinitis Pigmentosa: A Phase 1/2 Randomized, Controlled Trial

Author(s): Robert J. Casson, Rajesh Kumar Verma

Abstract: Background: Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) comprises a heterogeneous group of inherited retinal degenerations with no approved pharmacological therapies for late-stage disease. KIO-302 is a next-generation azobenzene photoswitch designed to restore light sensitivity to surviving retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in advanced photoreceptor degeneration. We report the first randomized, controlled evaluation of intravitreal KIO-302 in patients with advanced RP. Methods: In this Phase 1/2, randomized, single...

Osimertinib with platinum–pemetrexed versus oismertinib monotherapy in EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer with concurrent tumor suppressor gene alterations: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial (BRAZIL-TSG)

Author(s): Carlos A. Silva, MD, PhD, Maria G. Santos, MD

Abstract: Background: Third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor–tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) are standard first-line therapy for EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, co-existing tumor suppressor gene (TSG) alterations (e.g., TP53, RB1) are associated with inferior outcomes. The ACROSS2 trial demonstrated improved progression-free survival (PFS) with aumolertinib plus chemotherapy versus monotherapy in this population, but was limited by an open-label design a...
